Sings Disney: When You Wish upon a Star

Sings Disney: When You Wish upon a Star
Customer Review: Worth the Detour
I bought this disc a decade ago and was very pleasantly surprised to rediscover it a few days ago during a ruthless triage of my CD collection. Hendricks' homage to Disney is a keeper. Here's why: 1) the orchestration is unashamedly retro, honoring vintage '40s and '50s film scoring (think Steiner, Korngold, Hermann), rendered in a gorgeous acoustic ambiance; 2)okay: the musical values are dicey--this isn't Schoenberg--but for a certain demographic in the baby boomer generation this is a completely satisfying portion of comfort food, not least because this recording captures Barbara Hendricks in what must surely be one of the most complete documents of Hendricks' beguiling sound (at its glorious peak) and interpretive wit.
Customer Review: Like going back to Disneyland
I got this album by a friend, and I must say that I was very sceptic, but I soon changed my mind. This album is just faboulus. It reminds me of the tunes one can hear at the Disney parks. Wonderfull.
