Selects Her Favorite Disney Songs

Selects Her Favorite Disney Songs
Julie Andrews Selects Her Favorite Disney Songs is yet another of the beloved British diva's collaborations with the House of Mouse, but check that title carefully. It'd be easy to assume that Andrews was applying her golden pipes to "Beauty and the Beast" and the like, but this was released in 2005, when Andrews was still not all the way back from botched vocal-cord surgery. Thus, she has personally picked the 15 songs and written notes about them, but she doesn't sing; the recordings themselves are the original movie soundtracks you've heard for years (OK, she does sing on the two vintage Mary Poppins numbers). That's not necessarily a bad thing--these recordings have definitely brought a lot of enjoyment over the years--but chances are Disney fans will have many, if not all, of them in their collections already, and they'll be disappointed if they're expecting something new from Andrews. --David Horiuchi
Customer Review: Great Find
I love the songs from the orignal Disney movies so I was pleased to find this CD. Im not a fan of the remakes (Cheetah Girls, cringe) and it can be hard to find the orignals on iTunes. This is a must have for any Disney music lover! And it's made even better, by being availabe through Pepsi points!
Customer Review: Masterpiece
For Julie Andrews rabid fans it's something to behold, a rarest of all rare. It is a cd that I thought would never come to light. WE're still waiting for "Rose_Marie", "Julie and Carol At Lincoln Center", "JUlie Andrews Live At Osaka" and "Love Me Tender" to be released as cds. I wonder if Sepia records couldn't do something about that...

Mike Curb Congregation - Walt Disney's Greatest Hits
Customer Review: Very good!
Most of the songs were well performed on this CD!You'll love the upbeat 70s tempo and you'll be singing along and tappinng your feet. The only gripe I have about this CD is the slow and boring "Lavender Blue"-it's so slow that it will put you to sleep.I personally think they should've done "Tiki Room" or "So This Is Love" instead.
Customer Review: Great CD of Disney Classics
The Mike Curb Congregation give some lovely performances of these Disney treasures. The ballads are especially beautiful. "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" is downright gorgeous. "When You Wish Upon A Star" is fantastic and gets a really heartfelt treatment. The arrangements and vocals are great on this disc. Some of the songs like "It's A Small World" and "Spoonful of Sugar" from the Mary Poppins medley, have groovy seventies arrangements, but they are really fun. I can remember when this album was played in the waiting area for Walt Disney World's "Mickey Mouse Revue". Other standouts on this disc are "The Snow White Medley" ( really nice ) and "Once Upon A Dream" from Sleeping Beauty. If you love classic Disney songs, this CD is for you.
