Disney Wonderful Christmas

Disney Camp Rock 2009 Calendar
12 x 12 wall calendar. Camp Rock is a 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM). The music is written by Julie Brown, Paul Brown, Regina Hicks and Karen Gist. The movie is directed by Matthew Diamond and produced by Alan Sacks. On January 25, 2008, during the commercials for Minutemen, it was announced that Camp Rock would debut June 20, 2008. Camp Rock was the second DCOM to air on ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney after its premiere on Disney Channel, and be available online after its premiere on Disney Channel. The movie stars the Jonas Brothers and introduces Demi Lovato for her first lead role in a film. The film averaged 8.9 million viewers on the night of its premiere, making it the second highest viewed DCOM behind High School Musical 2.

Walt Disney Treasures - On the Front Lines
World War II transformed the Disney Studio. Although nearly one-third of the artists had been drafted, production quintupled, up to 95% of it for military and government uses. Some of the films included in On the Front Lines have not been seen since their initial release; others were never shown to the general public. Anticipating the importance of animated training films, Disney produced the studio's first educational film, "Four Methods of Flush Riveting" (1941), using limited animation to train riveters at Lockheed. Decades later, "Four Methods" and the excerpts from military training films remain models of how to present information clearly and concisely.

Many of the wartime entertainment shorts are largely propaganda. Donald's nightmare of working on a Nazi assembly line in "Der Fuehrer's Face" is still hilarious slapstick. The grimmer "Education for Death" and "Chicken Little" have aged less gracefully. Disney's oddest wartime project was Victory Through Air Power (1943), a live action/animation feature based on Major Alex de Seversky's controversial book that called for the adoption of long-range bombers. By the time it was finished, air power was a reality.

Front Lines also includes several health films made for the Office of Inter-American Affairs, and bond-buying shorts for Canada that reuse animation from Snow White and "Three Little Pigs." This collection of genuine rarities is a must-have for anyone interested in the history of animation, the Disney Studio, or America during WWII. Customer Review: Great Cartoons, Awful Introductions by Maltin
This is ironic - to say it in a nice way the least. On 2 DVD-s we have cartoons related to WW2 that condemn the propaganda machine of the Germans, how they forced young kids to think their way - yet at the same time you have the Disney studio forcing its own agenda and views by discrediting its own past views! Disney is forcing the viewer to watch an explanatory intro by Maltin (no, he is not best known for playing one of the ewoks in "Star Wars 6 -Return of the Jedi") by disabling the fast forward feature on the DVD, all in the interest of "explaining how things were then...". At the same time, Disney states that this set is for the collector, and some cartoons may not be suitable for kids. If it's for the collector, then why all the forceful explanations?
Customer Review: Great for Historians and Disney fans alike.
I am a history teacher and this collection of WWII cartoons by Disney are excellent, especially the four vaulted propaganda cartoons and the full length movie "Victory Through Air Power," is something I show clips of in class. This is a great collection of WWII cartoons and a full length feature to boot. Whether you are just a Walt Disney fan or a history buff, this definetely a collection to have in your library.
