Chicken Little (Walt Disney Pictures Presents: Cine-Manga) (v. 1)
This time the sky really is falling! Chicken Little would love nothing more than to forget the unfortunate "acorn" incidentâ€"you know, the one when he shouted, "The sky is falling!" All he wants now is to redeem himself. But just when things are starting to go his way, a real piece of the sky falls on Chicken Little's head. But who's gonna believe him this time? One thing's for sure: When it comes to saving the world, it may help to be a little chicken!
Customer Review: What a GREAT book, from a super Movie!
First off, Chicken little is one of the best kids movies Disney has put out since Nemo!! Both my kids 3 and 5 LOVE the movie and characters from this movie. NOW this is my first TOKYOPOP Cine-manga book and I am already hooked! It is like a book comic strip of the Whole movie! Very colorful and bright. Pictures true to the movie, in fact obvioulsy taken from the movie. This book is a great addition to bedtime reading as well as letting my 5 year old look through it himself and relive the movie on his won terms. Cant wait to add more Disney- Tokyopop Cine-manga books to our library. Purchased at walmart for a much better price.
Customer Review: Excellent Book Based On The Movie
For months, my husband and son were eager to see Chicken Little at the theater. Having seen the previews, I just wasn't thrilled at the prospect of seeing this particular movie for some reason. I accompanied my family to the theater to see Chicken Little and was VERY surprised at just how good it was! My 7 year old son loved the movie, so when he saw Disney's Read Aloud Storybook Chicken Little in the bookstore he exclaimed "Mama! I want this book!" He excitedly took a seat in the bookstore, engrossed in the pages of his new find. As a Mom who encourages her son to read, I of course bought him the book! But not after taking a hard look at it first. Not all "based on the movie" books are that great, in all honesty. However, this Disney version passed muster quite easily. It's a hardback book with a glossy cover and is about 8 X 10 in size. Surprisingly, there are 64 colorful pages to Chicken Little. The pages aren't CGI stills of the movie (think Madagascar) but rather are beautifully rendered paintings based on various scenes. The story is divided into three sections: A Chicken With A Past, The Sky Falls Again, and Family Matters. A Chicken With A Past includes scenes such as Chicken Little being pelted with acorns by the kids on the bus (including Foxy Loxy), Little catching a ride with a sticky lollipop (remember the gum on the street scene?), the sprinkler fiasco in the gym, the big baseball game, and more. The Sky Falls Again section depicts the strange panel that falls in Little's room, Fish being caught in the space ship, various scenes from within the ship, the whole town gathering at the ball field, and the orange fuzzy alien that was left behind. Family Matters begins with Little's Dad apologizing to people on the phone the next day and shows the alien "invasion", Little's smooch with Abby Mallard, the meeting with the alien Mom and Dad, the movie "Chicken Little: The True Story" (Ha!) and more. Despite being 60+ pages, it's not an overly long book so it's a great bed time story. It's not short, though, either. It's a great mix of text and colorful pictures in my opinion. The font is a nice size, too. My son LOVES this book and asks my husband and me to read it all the time. In fact, he's working on what he calls "Chicken Little II" where he takes elements from the book, changes them, and then re-draws them on blank paper. Sturdy, engaging, and beautifully rendered, Disney's Chicken Little Read Aloud Storybook is a wonderful book for young fans of the movie. This would make an excellent holiday gift, too!

Disney's Teacher's Pet

Disney's Teacher's Pet
As created by renowned illustrator Gary Baseman, Disney's Teacher's Pet spins the wistful tale of Spot, a dog who wants to be a boy, but whose mad scientist/would-be benefactor miscalculates his dog-year math and gives the hapless hound the body of a middle-aged man instead. But as did South Park before it, the film adaptation of the Emmy honored series trumps its small-screen rival with an ambitious musical soundtrack that's not only an unexpected delight, but one whose songs and performances sometimes rival many an over-hyped, contemporary Broadway stage production in the bargain. After the bouncing teeny pop of co-star Christy Carlson Romano's title track cover dispenses with the youth marketing angle, the album settles into a collection that's split between the more traditional show sensibilities of songwriters Cheri Steinkeller, Randy Peterson and Kevin Quinn and Stephen James Taylor's more contemporary pop/swing/rock pastiche underscore. Broadway vet Nathan Lane infuses his title role with dollops of loopy sincerity and charm on the opening "I Wanna Be a Boy," the wistful ballad "A Boy Needs a Dog" and elsewhere, while Kelsey Grammer imparts his mad scientist turn "I, Ivan Krank" with a delightful, perfectly-pitched hammy bravura. Underappreciated musician/actor Jack Sheldon swings merrily through "Take the Money and Run" while Debra Jo Rupp, David Ogden Stiers, Megan Mullally, Jerry Stiller, Shaun Fleming and Paul Reubens variously make even the briefest of turns memorable on the singalong "Whole Bunch of World," the merry march "Small But Mighty" and the goofy canine affirmation of "Proud To Be a Dog." --Jerry McCulley
Customer Review: Wheres "Paint it black" on this stupid cd
I just heard this cd and is the most awful peice of sh t ive ever heard.I hate it. And Where's "Paint It Black"? Very stupid. hahahahaha
Customer Review: Fantastic
This is a very good CD. "Teacher's Pet" is my favorite song on the CD. The following is a reply to CowPunk©'s question: "What I really wanna know is; who did this arrangement of the 1956 Joe Lubin tune "Teacher's Pet"? (Doris Day recorded it in 1958) It's driving me wacky... I know it had to be one of my old '80's power pop faves now making a living in Toon Town cuz their kids are watching the same shows as mine. Which is cool- just who is it? I do love that Power Pop sound. CowPunk©" No, that's Christy Carlson Romano. She played Ren Stevens in "Even Stevens" and voices Kim in "Kim Possible"(both Disney Channel series). I agree about the sound.

A Brush with Disney : An Artist's Journey, Told through the words and works of Herbert Dickens Ryman

A Brush with Disney : An Artist's Journey, Told through the words and works of Herbert Dickens Ryman
In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Ryman Program for Young Artists, The Ryman-Carroll Foundation is proud to present a book of extraordinary insight into the magical worlds of Disney and its quintessential artist Herbert Dickens Ryman.

A Brush with Disney is the story in 252 pages of color illustrations of artist Herbert Ryman's personal journeys around the world and through the "world of Walt".

Told through the marvelous illustrations of the artist and his own personal notes and thoughts on a 50-year journey, this rare compilation (many never-before-seen works) is edited by Bruce Gordon and David Mumford, with research by Irene Naoum.
Customer Review: A Wonderful Look at an Amazing Artist
This is an amazing and difficult book to review; not for any reason you would expect. The text is compelling and you learn about the man and the artist. The reproductions of Ryman's art is outstanding. You understand the gift the man possessed. What makes the book so difficult to review is also what makes it so amazing--there is no eloquent way for me to describe the artwork found in this book. You have to see it to enjoy the amazing pieces of art. The book was put together by Bruce Gordon, David Mumford and the Ryman-Carroll Foundation. Bruce and David also did The Nickel Tour and Walt's Time. Bruce co-edited The Art of Disneyland and Disneyland: Now, Then and Forever. This work is a love letter from Mr. Ryman's closest friends, co-workers and family to the legendary artist. There are four major sections of the book: Odysseys (journeys he took throughout his life), Hollywood (working for major studios), Fantasy Lands & Disney Worlds (Disneyland through Disneyland Paris) and Legacy (The Ryman Foundation). Most Disney enthusiasts will undoubtedly focus on the concept artwork for the theme parks. It is very impressive to see the artwork in one place and realize how much Mr. Ryman was responsible for developing the overall feel for the lands and attractions. Each land in Disneyland is covered (except Mickey's Toontown) and we see the progressions that Mr. Ryman makes in his own artwork for the company. The early work for Disneyland is a little more focused on specific areas whereas the latter works seem to be more sweeping and carry more emotional weight. The other section of the book refer to Mr. Ryman's non-Disney career. He spent a few years travelling Europe and Asia before doing studio work and he even spent a few years painting portraits of the performers and clowns for the Ringling Brother's Circus. After his Disneyland and early Magic Kingdom work, he travelled through Europe and Asia again. He never really left Disney; they called him back to work on concepts for Epcot, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland (The Indiana Jones Adventure). There is so much more fantastic art throughout the whole book. The few pieces I have shared are just a few of the Disney-related works. So much of his life's work is more about emotions and feelings than realistic portrayal. In the book, his most powerful statements are from the time he spent painting the Pacific Coast near his home. He effectively captured the mood and feel of the rocky shores. I have read a few criticisms about the book--namely that there is too much sub par art and not enough Disney-focused art. Personally, I was fascinated with all of Mr. Ryman's art. Not only did it tell of his life, but it shed some light on the influences that were present in his work. Whether it was mood, shadows or vistas; you could immediately sense that you were viewing an artist that was meant to do his work. Bottom Line: I thoroughly enjoyed this dedication to Herb Ryman. This book isn't for every Disney Geek, but those enthusiasts with an interest in concept art and a look at the development of a Disney artist will treasure it. The artwork is astounding and there were some surprises within the pages. As is, the book is out of print and you should expect to pay street prices well above the release price. Although it isn't as spectacular as The Nickel Tour or as comprehensive as The Art of Disneyland, you do see where Mr. Ryman excelled and where his influence was most prominent. If you can snag a copy of it, you will not be disappointed. Customer Review: Good, but misleading
I found A Brush With Disney to be an overall good book. It looks great on the coffee table and shelf, has a beautiful cover, and clear, quality illustrations. That being said, if you think this is a book full of Disney concept art (as I did) you'll be disappointed. The book is not about Disney, but about the artist and his life and work. His work at Disney takes up only about a fourth of the book. I also thought it would feature concept work for different rides, parks, etc. In actuality it only had concept work for the parks and a few of the "lands" in Disneyland (Frontierland, New Orleans Square, Sleeping Beauty's Castle, etc.) I felt a bit cheated after paying $65 because it's as if the artist is selling himself under the Disney name for publicity and name recognition. Anyone heard of Herbert Dickens Ryman before? I sure haven't. I didn't give it a one simply because the content is good, it's just not about what is advertised and promoted on cover.

Disney's California Adventure Detective: An Independent Guide to Exploring the Trivia, Secrets and Magic of the Park Dedicated to California

Disney's California Adventure Detective: An Independent Guide to Exploring the Trivia, Secrets and Magic of the Park Dedicated to California

The companion and follow-up to Disneyland Detective is an enthusiastic investigation of the $2.1 billion expansion invested in the Disneyland Resort in 2001 that celebrates California’s storied past and dynamic future. This exploration of hidden treasures and secret references in the park that highlights the diveristy of the Golden Stateâ€"from the Gold Rush to the golden years and California's present-day allureâ€"features original illustrations, photographs, trivia, and the behind-the-scenes story of a park that was 40 years in development. With the help of this guide, readers will be able to discover the whereabouts of several “hidden Mickeys,” locate the Twilight Zone television props placed in the Tower of Terror attraction, and learn about California’s contributions to the aviation industry.

Customer Review: Disney' California Adventure Detective
Here is a book for all Disney Park fans. The refreshing thing about the Disneyland Detective, and California Adventure Detective books, is that they are written by a fan for fans. It is full of the little things that a fan truly wants to know about the parks they so dearly love. NOT a book that THINKS it knows what a fan wants to know. Disney's California Adventure is a park that is not as popular as Disneyland. It is thought to have a couple of perks, like California Soaring, but compared to Disneyland, if given the choice one would most likely, attend the latter. Disney's California Adventure Detective unlocked for me, many hidden secrets of a park perhaps a bit misunderstood. For example,it opened up a whole new insight to "Twilight Zone's Tower of Terror," as it lists where to look for actual props from the popular TV show hidden throughout the cue. My favorite, the chalk marks on the wall from the episode"Little Girl Lost." When I saw that, and put my ear to the wall, I heard that little girl... Wow! If you like discovering secrets, then this book will rock your world!

Cooking with Mickey & Friends: More Than 30 Recipes for Kids Easy to Make and Even Easier to Eat (Disneys)
Customer Review: Recipes are "Yucky"
My 3 year old daughter recieved this book as a gift and so far after cooking three of the recipes together, she hasn't had more than one bite of any of them. She says they are yucky or they taste bad. I have to agree with her. The cooking part is fun and the recipes are easy enough to do together with a 3 year old. It's also disapointing to her because the pictures are cartoons and the food "doesn't look how it says in the book" in her words. We are better off cooking tried and true recipes together from "real" cookbooks.
Customer Review: Great for Kids
I bought this book for my niece, and she loved it.I thought it was an excellent cooking book for kids. She really enjoyed cooking with this book!

Disney's Boo to You, Winnie the Pooh!
Winnie the Pooh and his fellow friends from the Hundred-Acre Wood think up a way to prevent Piglet from being spooked on a shivering, creaking, and howling Halloween eve, instead of having to cancel the holiday altogether."
Customer Review: school project
Pooh and his friends were having a best costume contest. Pooh started to trick or treat the honeybees and they started chasing them. They ran and finally got away from them. I think this is a good story for kids to read it teaches you how friends will always stick together no matter what through everything. They wont leave you behind ever or make you feel left out. Rabbit said he didn't like halloween. Piglet didn't have a costume. Piglet stayed in his house because he was frightened of halloween, so Pooh arrived at his house and visited him. Pooh was in trouble, and Piglet had to save him if he was afraid or not, because his friend was in trouble so he came out and tryed helping him and scared everyone. Everyone collided. Pooh said Piglet saved them all, they all gathered. Piglet said he went as Pooh's very best and very bravest bestfriend for halloween!
Customer Review: BOO To You, Winnie the Pooh!
I think this was a fun book to read. How friends stick together, through thick and thin. Even though you may be so scared, but your friend's in trouble so you put your self out on the line to help them. I think that's what friendship is all about! It teaches kids how to help other people and make friends. It doesn't matter how big or little you are, you can help people at any age, and this book helps kids realize this. You make more friends when you help and encourage people. In this book, it shows how close these friends are and what they will do for each other. That's why I enjoyed this book so much, because I know how much friends mean. You need friends to get through life from day, to day, and kids need to know this. I would recommend this book to many.

Sweet and Spooky Halloween (Disney Princess)
Trick or treat! It's Halloween and the Disney Princesses are celebrating this sweet and spooky season! Cinderella carves pumpkins, Ariel dresses up in costume, and Belle explores the creepy corners of the Beast's castle in this 24-page storybook featuring all-new illustrations.
Customer Review: More Sweet than Spooky
Simple sentences and bright pictures that have a very movie-esque look to them, give this book its flavor. Its not nearly as bright and colorful as the glittery cover suggests, but has a more simple animation look to the pictures. Each page features a different princess doing some kind of harvest/Halloween seasonal activity such as carving a pumpkin or reading a ghost story. It shows children different things that are associated with Halloween using the princesses to illustrate the various situations. It's cute, although has no real "story" so to speak, but does show you most of the major Disney Princesses so no matter which one your child favors, she will show up in the book eventually. My kids liked it and wanted read again (and again) so that's the real deciding factor over whether this book is worth it or not (and it is).
Customer Review: A Very Cute Book; My 5-Year-Old Niece Loves It
Rather than shoving all the princesses together (a common practice these days), each of the major princesses is shown in their natural setting, preparing for Halloween (carving pumpkins, choosing costumes, etc.). A simple, fun, cheap book that my 5-year-old niece cannot get enough of.

Disneyland Detective: An Independent Guide to Discovering Disney's Legend, Lore, and Magic
This enthusiastic investigation of Disneyland's hidden treasures leads both first-time visitors and aficionados through the legendary theme park while pointing out tiny surprises around each turn. Helpfully organized as a reading tour, this guidebook features the whereabouts of many of Disneyland's secrets, including the locations of several "Hidden Mickeys," and original movie props that appear around the park. Also included are original illustrations, trivia, and an exploration of Disneyland's history, which notes the subtle tributes Walt Disney placed throughout the grounds honoring the people who made the park possible. Also included are fascinating facts about Disneyland and American history that will interest teachers and tour guides as well as the 13.9 million guests who visit Disneyland every year.
Customer Review: Great Information
There are websites online that will give you much of the same information in this book. However, the author of this book has gathered it all together, organized the information and put it in a book that you can take right into Disneyland. When we went to Disneyland we brought our book along. It only added to the enjoyment to be able to crack open the book when waiting in line and look at what was around us. Worth the money enjoy.
Customer Review: Loved it!
We took this book w/ us to Disneyland and found it very useful. While there, we took the "Walk in Walt's footsteps" tour and found that it covered a lot of what was in the book. One of the tour guides even commented on what a good book this one is. The only downfall is that we couldn't find many of the Hidden Mickeys. We were told by a cast memeber that Disneyland doesn't have official Hidden Mickeys and that if there is one on one day, it might be gone the next. We still had fun looking for them!

A Goofy Movie (Disney Gold Classic Collection)
Even as Disney has reveled in the success of its high-end animated features, it occasionally sneaks a lesser effort into theaters, based on one of the many TV shows with which it dominates daytime TV. This one is based on perennial Disney favorite Goofy's adventures in domesticated bliss. Goofy is now a single dad; when son Max gets blamed for a prank gone wrong at school, Goofy blames himself and decides that, for his vacation, he's going to get away with Max alone. Of course, this is no treat for Max, who has just met the girl of his dreams and harbors no wish to spend the summer touring America with his square dad. The vacation is one disaster after another, though they aren't particularly funny disasters; the culmination involves Goofy's efforts to get Max backstage at a big rock concert. Strictly for young fans of the TV show. --Marshall Fine
Customer Review: Great movie, but not-so-great DVD
Since this is one of my favorite Disney movies, I decided to get the DVD and see if it was worth the money, but unfortunatley it wasn't. One of the biggest problems with the DVD is that the film is not presented in its original aspect ratio. Another problem is the special features included. Out of all the stuff included, I was expecting a "making of" featurette, but Disney was too lazy to include it, not to mention one was already made back during the film's release and aired on the Disney Channel. Everything else seems ok, the VHS version of this movie is probably two times better. In other words, this is a great film, but the DVD is simlpy stupid.
Customer Review: A good Disney movie
My 3 year old son loves this movie. He first saw it at his daycare, so I had to get it for him. There's music, singing and "goofy" things going on amidst a good father/son story. The only thing I found a little off-putting is the reference to the "electric chair" . Try explaining that to your kids. So far, my son hasn't asked...

From Pinocchio, Mother Goose, and Dumbo to Bambi, Scamp, and The Three Little Pigs, these gorgeously illustrated classics will make this boxed set a true gem for fans and collectors alike.
Customer Review: a little disapointed
The set does not cost much but the books (although they look good in the box) are not well put together. You will think that someone sat at home and make them with not technology whatsoever. I think you could find a much nicer book for that price o just a few more dollars.
Customer Review: Collection Needed
Happy to see these in a collection, I may have duplicated some books, but that's very ok. We'll have Grammies books and our grand daughter can take the others home with her to enjoy! I'm so very thankful that Amazon had these. Sadly books are being replaced by electronic gizmos that our son calls "electronic parents so parents don't have to BE there". Pretty insightful for a 20 year old who grew up in the electronic age!

This is a great book for younger girls. My 5 year old loves Disney princesses and she was very excited to get this book. The story is good and easy for her to follow.

Customer Review: be warned
As with The Disappearing Sun, this is a board book - NOT a chapter book like many of the others. My kids still liked the story and the necklace since they LOVE the Disney fairies, but we were a bit disappointed at it's short length.
Customer Review: Fairy books
My 8 yr. old simply loves all of the Disney fairy books. She can't wait until each new one comes out.

Customer Review: Incredible!
I must say, this is Disney's--no, ONE of Disney's best--Princess soundtracks. I have both the Disney Princess Ultimate Song Collection and this one, but this one has some songs I haven't learned yet. My favorite song is Put It Together, which has the Fairy Godmother's special magical phrase, "Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo." And it also has some songs that remind me of why I think Cinderella should be known as the Princess of Hope. Thank you, Disney.
Customer Review: Nice change to the basic Princess compilation
We rented this and many other Disney princess CD's from the library to 'check them out' before we bought them...This is hands down my daughters FAVORITE! While she loves all the classic princess songs she has so many other cd's that have those on them...but this one has the song from hercules (I wont say Im in love) and 3-4 songs from Cinderella II - all of which are very up beat and more 'rock n roll' ;-) which my 5 year old loves. She loves that most the songs on this cd are 'dance' type songs - the one exception is the song from Broadway version of beauty and the beast...that song gets skipped over as it is very slow and doesnt seem to fit with the rest of the cd...other than that this is an awesome alternative to the basic / classic princess collections...this is NOT the collection for you if you want only the classic songs.

Customer Review: Classic Favorite with a Twist
This cartoon was a classic favorite of mine as a child! I was so excited to see it was available on DVD. I want to share it with my kids, and love that it adds a new element of counting etc., rather than being simply entertainment.
Customer Review: Kids love it!!! Nothing better than Disney to teach Reading and Math!
I just popped the dvd into our player and expected my nephews to stare blankly into the screen and go along their merry way roaming around our house, but to my amazement the singing and the interesting eye catching way of the disney characters teaching how to count sheep and stuff, was like flame to their moth..analogically speaking :)

Customer Review: I got what I wanted
I bought this DVD for the "Peter and the Wolf" animated short. It's everythind I remembered it to be, and it's everything that I wanted. The rest is gravy. I do remember some of the other cartoons from my childhood, especially "Pedro" and "Susie the little blue Coupe", which I read is what the chracters in the Pixar movie "Cars" were based on. I wish that Disney would either include a few more features on each DVD or release more DVD titles like these with a variety of shorts, or if not, then reduce the price a little. Otherwise, a very worthwhile purchase.
Customer Review: ***** cartoons that we already have!
Five stars (*****) for the cartoons, but we already have most of them on DVD, Crazy With the Heat makes a debut here. You may want to buy this for that one cartoon unless you never picked up any of the other Disney Treasures DVDs. VOLUME TWO PEDRO (previously made available on as a part of the "Saludos Amigos" DVD) Papa Plane and Mama Plane ferry mail over the Andes mountains, but one day both Mama and Papa Plane get sick and can't go. Little Pedro is called on, and despite a big condor, a bigger mountain and a very big storm, Pedro saves the day. THE OLYMPIC CHAMP (previously made available on "Walt Disney Treasures: The Complete Goofy" DVD) Goofy gives his own hilarious history of the Olympics in this comical look at the famous sporting event. Goofy demonstrates, as only he can, hurdles, pole vaulting, discus, javelin throwing and more. PETER AND THE WOLF (previously made available as part of the "Make Mine Music" DVD) The tale of Peter and the Wolf is told with superb Disney animation and musical accompaniment. Peter goes hunting for a large wolf with a duck, cat and a bird, but the wolf turns out to be a lot harder to catch than Peter first realized. THE BRAVE LITTLE TAILOR (previously made available on "Walt Disney Treasures: Mickey Mouse in Living Color" and "The Sword in the Stone" DVDs) In medieval times Mickey plays a little tailor who is mistaken for a giant killer. The king appoints Mickey to destroy a nearby giant, with the prize being the hand of the fair princess Minnie. Mickey has to use his brains to outwit the giant's brawn. CRAZY WITH THE HEAT (NEW TO DVD, but announced to be on the "Disney Treasures: Chronological Donald 3" DVD release December 11 2007) Donald and Goofy run out of gas while traveling through the desert, and start to see mirages. SUSIE, THE LITTLE BLUE COUPE (previously made available as bonus feature on "The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad" [you have to win the Mr.Toad Road Game to view it] and "The Love Bug" DVDs) Susie, in an auto showroom, is bought by a man who takes good care of her but as time passes she grows older and her owner trades her in. She has a succession of unfortunate owners who mistreat her, and just as she is about to be abandoned in a junkyard, an eager young man buys here, tinkers with her, and soon has her running again.

My Best Friend is Jasmine (Disney Princess)
Jenna and her younger brother and sister are hungry and living on the streets in Agrabahâ€"that is, until Jenna becomes best friends with Princess Jasmine! Find out how this streetwise little girl gets invited to live in a princess’s palace in this full-color padded and glittered hardcover storybook.
Customer Review: Long story
My 5 year old wanted a Jasmine party for her birthday so when I saw this I bought it for her. She loves looking at the pictures. The story is kind of long, but she has always loved to be read to and sits through it pretty well.
Customer Review: not for young kids
My 3 year old one loves Disney Princess and it is hard to find things about Jasmine. So I ordered it. Not for young kids. THe story is okay. Princess does a great thing for a little girl and the sibling. gives them a home etc. But it is more for older kids that love to read their own book, or perhaps older kids that like to be read to and enjoy a more advanced story of their favorite princess. Nice color, paper pages, and it will be a nice book for an older child. My daughter loves the princess but she doesn't get into this book at all. Perhaps at a later time but for right now it was wasted money.

Disney on Classic: a Magical Night 2006

Official Album of Disneyland/Walt Disney World
Though it's neither as comprehensive nor as elegantly presented as The Music of Disney: A Legacy in Song, this compilation is an enjoyable sampler of music from Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Naturally, the music's good for reliving memories of the parks, but when listened to at home, the best selections reveal previously unnoticed complexity. The oldest recordings, like "The Tiki Tiki Room" and "Grim Grinning Ghosts" (from the Haunted Mansion ride), are seamless show tunes that grapple inventively with the limitations of analog and mono. And the Main Street Electrical Parade theme song is a freaked-out Moog marathon that must be heard to be believed. This disc offers one of the best uses yet for your CD player's "program" function--pick out the songs like you'd pick out a ride, and never wait in line! --John Sanchez
Customer Review: Disneyland/disney world cassette
I have the disneyland/disneyworld offical album on cassette and still listen to it today its excellent for long car trips and we usually listen to it twice and i always bring it on the plane to disney world its very good and i have the millenium album with golden dream on cassette to so i say yes to both everyone reallly enjoys light magic on the offical album of disneyland and disney world. i give this album 5 stars same for the millenium one too.
Customer Review: Great Disney CD
This is a great album for any Disney fan to have. The CD features a variety of brief excerpts from the musical loops of beloved attractions from Disneyland and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom such as "The Haunted Mansion", "Pirates of the Caribbean", and "Splash Mountain". It also includes music from a few of Disney's famous nighttime spectaculars including "Fantasmic", the "Main Street Electrical Parade", and "Illuminations". One highlight of the CD is the entire musical loop from the Disneyland Night Parade "Light Magic". While the parade proved to be unpopular and only ran for about a year, the music is great, mixing classic Disney songs such as "Be Our Guest" and "Step In Time" with Irish step dancing music a la Riverdance. While I would recommend either the official album for Disneyland and official album for Walt Disney World that is sold exclusively at the parks before recommending this one, I do think this is a great album as well and defiantly worth purchasing.

Hannah Montana Best of Both Worlds! Activity Book (Disney)
Get ready for some fun with your favorite secret superstar - Hannah Montana - and all her friends! Lots of cool activitites!
Customer Review: pretty lame activites and not for young girls
I was not overly impressed by the activities. Their "activities" are actually fill in the blank questions that would turn any giddy girl into a self conscious and insecure nervous wreck. Let me give you examples of questions they ask: "If I could change one thing about my appearance, it would be ?... If I could change one thing about my personality, it would be ? ... My best friend is beautiful, but she would look great with my ?..." Then they go on to give beauty tips - such as using a pumice stone for your feet, checking your blush in natural light, blah, blah, blah. I would steer tween and pre-tween girls away from this book. There is no appropriate activity for girls of any age in my opinion, but especially not for young girls who are still enjoying the care-free days of childhood. No need to rush them to the insecurities of adolescence!

Disney Girlz Rock

Disney Girlz Rock
Disney Girlz Rock is like the hit songs from a bunch of Disney soundtracks without the filler. While the selections are taken from both big-budget theatrical releases and Disney Channel Original Movies, it's probably no accident that the best songs come from the former category, such as Linday Lohan's "Ultimate" and "Drama Queen (That Girl)" (from Freaky Friday and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, respectively), Raven-Symone's "This Is My Time" (from The Princess Diaries 2), and Caleigh Peters's "Reach" and Hayden Panettiere's "I Fly" (both from 2005's Ice Princess, the most recent film represented). Other Disney starlets appearing are Aly & AJ ("Rush") and Christy Carlson Romano ("Bounce"), but Hilary Duff seems underrepresented by only "Our Lips Are Sealed," her remake of the old Go-Go's tune with sister Haylie. Still, it's a solid compilation for tween-age girls. --David Horiuchi
Customer Review: Great CD, but no surprises.
In my personal opinion every outstanding album has a surprise, a super, terific un-expected song that you just fall in love with. C'mon, you know what I mean. Think of your favorite CD, or your favorite song. It's not that I expected a super hit in a this CD, it's just that everything is so old. They just swaped and stole songs from other albums and soundtracks. Still a great album, I love every song! I just wish they put something in it that was recorded first for this CD, or at least recorded recently.
Customer Review: Disney Girlz Rock
It's like having Disney radio in the house. My kids love it! (And so do I)

Disney's Karaoke Series: Kim Possible
Customer Review: O.K. for the dedicated Kim Possible fan
Not the original singers so it very distracting at first...the singers' emphasis on particular words do not match the songs from the T.V. show. We play this one in the car...the soundtrack with the original singers doesn't leave the house.
Customer Review: Awsome CD. Rappin mole rat is great!!!!!
Well, yes a couple of the songs aren't song by the characters. It would have been nice. But besides that it is awsome.

Disney's Elegant Book of Manners Ls

Disney's Elegant Book of Manners Ls
Customer Review: Manners taught by Goofy & Mickey!
Heedless of adolescence, my children will huddle up to share The Disney Book of Elegant Manners when I read it to my much younger nieces -- who clamor for it whenever they visit. Clever and thought provoking, this book gives you the chance to visit with children about the "why" of manners and makes it fun. The illustrations are captivating and employ all the esteemed Disney characters (of old, that is!) and the manners are instructed in verse.

Disney Presents Aladdin and the King of Thieves

Disney Presents Aladdin and the King of Thieves
At long last, Aladdin is about to marry the Princess Jasmine. Despite the presence and encouragement of his friends Genie, Carpet, and Abu, he is fearful and anxious. He is most worried as to what kind of father he will be, having never known his own. But when the 40 Thieves disrupt the wedding trying to steal a magical oracular talisman, Aladdin is drawn into a dangerous quest to stop the find his long-lost father. Cast overview, first billed only: Robin Williams .... Blue Genie (voice) Scott Weinger .... Aladdin (voice)
Customer Review: The only worthy "Aladdin" sequel
I was really pleased (and relieved) that "Aladdin and the King of Thieves" was a well-made sequel, especially after the embarrassing debacle of the straight-to-video "The Return of Jafar". I rented "Jafar" when it was released, watched it for the first 15 mins., then turned off the VCR in disgust. Everything about it was cheap: cheap story, cheap animation, and cheap execution. It was barely up to Saturday morning cartoon fare, let alone Disney's high standards. Especially disappointing was the exclusion of the comic genius of Robin Williams; didn't Disney realize his voice IS the Genie? A glaring oversight on their part. Thank goodness they made up for it with this concluding sequel to the Aladdin saga. While a notch below the original, AATKOT restored most of the magic missing from "Jafar". The subplot of Aladdin getting to know his long-lost, charmingly roguish father was well-handled and poignant. But as with the original film, Williams stole the show as the mischievous and all-powerful Genie, a perfect character for Williams to morph from one impersonation and/or satirical situation into another. I had it on VHS, but definitely want it on DVD to add to my Disney collection. A fitting conclusion to one of Disney's most treasured animated films.
Customer Review: Aladdin and the king of thieves
One of the best disney movies i have ever seen. It has great songs, and i'd love to find a cd with them on. I especially like the song 'Thin Air', and also 'There's a Party in Agrabah'.

Walt Disney's Bambi (Gladstone Comic Album Series No. 9)
In 1988, over forty-five years after the release of the film, Gladstone believes the original story is still the best, and, of the various interpretations that have been done, the retelling by Western Publishing's great illustrator Ken Hultgren has best stood the test of time. It was originally published in Dell Four Color 18 and is reprinted here (the 1942 edition is a $200 collector's item today).

Disney's Beauty And The Beast: The Broadway Musical - Original Broadway Cast Recording (Blisterpack)

Disney's Beauty And The Beast: The Broadway Musical - Original Broadway Cast Recording (Blisterpack)
Way back in 1991, many of us saw the single-handed salvation and revival of the old-fashioned American-style Broadway musical comedy. True, it was in the form of a feature-length Disney cartoon, but Beauty and the Beast had it all: a wonderful, tuneful score (including a huge hit title-song), off-the-wall choreography, a great opposites-attract love story with an ultimately happy ending, comic subplots, colorful period costumes, a romantic location in small-town France, and an irresistible cast, including Angela Lansbury as the voice of a teapot. Alan Menken's songs, with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, literally introduced the characters ("Belle" and "Gaston") and carried them gracefully through the old fairy tale with its new animated twists. Disney understandably decided to transpose this cinematic miracle to the Broadway stage in 1992. Beauty and the Beast at the fabled Palace Theatre has done as much as anything to revive New York's theatre district; it led to a similar animated film-to-stage transfer of The Lion King, which allowed for the magnificent restoration of the 1902 New Amsterdam Theatre, which was the cornerstone of the cleanup of 42nd Street, which in turn transformed Times Square and "Broadway" into the world's number-one tourist destination. And we're all terribly grateful. But, on stage, Beauty and the Beast was flat, and most of that lack of fizz is, alas, captured on compact disc. The good songs are all here, such as "Be Our Guest," but the performances of them are mostly perfunctory--the exception being the vocal renderings of Susan Egan as Belle, the Beauty. Further, the Disneyfication of the Broadway musical seems to extend to faceless and interchangeable (read: cheap to hire) players, a practice that extends to The Lion King. The only "names" in the original Beauty and the Beast cast were Beth Howland as the teapot and Tom Bosley, a mere shadow of his former Fiorello, as Belle's father. Even worse, unlike The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast was not reinvented for the stage. It's my theory that the kids who made up the live audience (and many of their parents) were filling in the blanks from repeated viewings of the cartoon on video. If you're willing to do the same when only listening, this CD might do. But why, when the movie soundtrack album is available? --Robert Windeler
Customer Review: Awsome, just like being there
Just like sitting at the show or being at Disney's Hollywood Studio watching the Beauty & The Beast live show.
Customer Review: Surprising!
I avoid Disney because they usually throw enough "sweetness" at a person to give them diabetes! Having heard two of the songs on AOL Radio, I was curious enough to order the CD. It was a TOTAL surprise! There is enough sugar in it, but there is FAR more passion than I would expect from Disney. It's a love story. (Aren't they ALL?) BUT there are enough other enjoyable moments in it to make it worthwhile. (Including what I perceive to be a suicide threat, "If I can't love her/Let the world be done with me."). Not what you'd expect!) While the whole musical can be summarized in three of the tracks, (Prologue, to tell the premise, Something There, to show development, and End Duet to resolve the situation) that doesn't say that the other tracks are fluff. They ALL contribute to the telling of the story. All in all, far better than I expected!

Highlights From Disney On Broadway
Disney has been a relatively late comer on Broadway, but it's been hitting pay dirt since the stage version of Beauty and the Beast opened to critical acclaim and commercial success in 1994, followed by The Lion King and Aida. While Aida was the only original stage creation, the other two featured new songs that were not in the movies. In addition, Disney worked with some of New York's finest theatrical talent. In hindsight, hiring Julie Taymor to stage The Lion King was a stroke of genius, but it really was a daring gamble at the Time. Likewise, Beauty and the Beast gave talented theater singers like Terrence Mann and Susan Egan a chance to shine in meaty roles. Disney groomed talent as well: Heather Headley was cast in a supporting part in The Lion King before moving on to the title role in Aida. All three shows are represented on this CD (with a companion book due in October 2002), making for a perfect introduction to their best-known songs. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

A Wonderful Wind (Disney's Out & About with Pooh, Vol. 13)

A Wonderful Wind (Disney's Out & About with Pooh, Vol. 13)

Let's Cruise!
Ready, set, GO! Lightning McQueen, the rookie hot-shot race car, is screaming his way down the track on his way to winning the Piston Cup. But when he gets stuck in a slow little town called Radiator Springs, McQueen must learn a valuable lesson about friendshipâ€"fast. This beautifully illustrated Read-Aloud Storybook is the complete retelling of Disney presentation of a Pixar film latest computer-animated film, Cars.

From the Hardcover edition.
Customer Review: A Review of "Lightning McQueen"
To have it all and realize that it is still not enough is the lesson offered by "Lightning McQueen," Frank Berrios's take on William Blake's famous maxim: "The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom." At first, it's tempting to brush off this work as yet another picaresque morality tale, but to do so would be to deprive oneself of a truly transcendental reading experience. The tale is told in retrospect, as McQueen looks back upon his life addicted to speed. McQueen is a racecar, you see, a young fool whose heart is set solely on winning the race, any race, anywhere, at any cost. Berrios's prose leads us to envision the late night excesses of the young car, tasting the fruits of fame and riches, guzzling oil by the barrel, burning rubber on nameless, abandoned parking lots, constantly proving himself against some nameless foe. "I used to think racing was everything," says McQueen, as he cuts a swath of devastation in his wake during one particular race. What is it that motivates him? What is it that causes this self-destructive behavior? In his genius, Berrios never reveals it. Instead, we are left to ponder the internal machinations of a tortured soul who can find no other light in his life than the glare of the winner's podium and all the accoutrements it engenders. It is not until he arrives in Radiator Springs that perspective is gained and he begins to take stock of the decisions he's made and where those decisions have taken him. "I made new friends [in Radiator Springs]," McQueen admits, and we believe him. The grandeur and beauty of the landscape and a special bond formed with a nameless female car who lives in the town causes McQueen to rethink everything about his former lifestyle. "I still like winning," McQueen tells us in the book's final page, "but I also love going for a drive with my friends!" Berrios wants us to believe that through balance, success is attainable, that one can discover a winning formula without an extra edge. Ultimately, the admission seems too neat and trite in a work of such pulsating introspection. As readers, we are left wanting. But it's a minor stumble for Berrios in a work of exquisite prose, and after all of the tribulations and redemptions that he has guided us through from the opening scene, perhaps we can forgive him. Through the eyes of a simple racecar, Berrios examines the drama of choice, the rearrangement of values and how the bonds of friendship can leave an impression that can change a life's course. It is his strongest work to date, a tour-de-force of devastating literary consequence.

My son, three and a half, loves these audio books. He will say, "I want to read Buzz and Woody" before he goes to bed. This is his way of dismissing me and telling me he'll read himself to sleep. While I love that just-before-bedtime time with my child as much as anybody... this is a welcome change here and there.
Customer Review: Only wish they had more!
My daughter is just beginning to read, and loves that she can "read along" with these books! She feels so independent!! I only wish they had more that are appropriate for ages 4-5.
